As parents, we believe that our children are a gift from God, and our highest responsibility on earth. As children, we believe that we are given the opportunity to learn from our fathers and mothers, and theirs before them, how to live an abundant and fulfilling life by honoring God and our parents. We believe we are always essential to each other, essential to God’s family, our extended family on earth.
We know that though there may be prodigals, or in pain, or wandering for a time, and while some of us may have been lost, we are still a family created by God. All of us were once prodigals to God, yet never abandoned or lost to Him, so we commit to never abandon those he has given to us.
We pledge to strengthen our faith and family ties, to uplift and encourage one another, and to stand firm in the face of any effort within or without to dim our light, love, or liberty to one another.

Before you begin you may want to pull out scratch paper and practice using the pen and gold leafing. There is plenty of both in the kit.

Fill in your personal family promises in the middle section.
Counsel with your family and consider the promises you would like to compact with each other. You can always add to it over the years. These can be family mantras, themes, principles, or sayings of your family that keep you together. No one else needs to understand them. For the Gold leafing hand print.Â
1. Open the gold leafing package and set aside a gold leaf.
2. Use the provided glue stick and put a generous amount of glue on an outstretched hand.
2. Place the hand on the signing part of the compact for a few seconds. Slowly peel the hand back off the compact.Â
3. Place the gold leafing over the hand print. Gently tap down.
4. Brush away excess with provided feather pen.Â
The handprint should appear.
Sign the compact with the provided feather pen.Â
